Garden Design in Saddleworth, by David Keegan Garden Design

A Garden Design Project in Higher Kinders, Greenfield Oldham

For those of you who follow and read my blog you may remember another project featured in an earlier blog post featuring a project in Greenfield in Saddleworth, well it was an honour to be asked to redesign gardens for the clients father John. Below is a record of the project which will be updated as it develops

John a keen gardener to begin with but due to limitations of age was in need of a bit of help in simplifying the gardens whilst also making it easier to maintain. I have kept the essence of what John had originally created but just redesigned to hopefully make it more user friendly. That's not to say that John is no longer an active participant in the gardens, as the pictures below show he is still very much involved, and keeping a keen eye on the landscaping team. I can only hope that i have the same energy and strength if i reach my eighties!!

Anyway enough from me now to the plans and pictures of the work in progress!!

And quite  a few weeks later.........
the finished article, apart from the metal pergola which is being installed this very week October 15

Gardens as first viewed

Area to driveway which will become a a wildlife garden with the introduction of bug boxes and animal shelters. The layout for this area is completely rethought with the introduction of a more level finish and steps to a sheltered seat. The garden will also benefit from a hazel hurdle screen to the perimeter for shelter and screening

The main garden as it was with rose bed to fore. This will be re positioned to sit behind the existing rose pergola and the soil re-turfed

Sloped rockeries and pond all removed with the pond enlarged and rockeries replaced with single level beds for ease of maintenance. Seats will be inset into new walls to pond path.

Further rockery beds to be removed and stone walls built to crate single level planting beds for ease of maintenance.
